Privacy Policy

The short version
Matawang has no accounts and asks for nothing about you. No sign-up, no email address, no profile, and no advertising or analytics code in the app. Your settings stay on your phone.
What stays on your device
These never leave your phone. We cannot read them, and uninstalling the app deletes them.
- Which currencies you have starred as favourites.
- A copy of the most recent rates, so the home screen widget can show them without opening the app.
- Cached flag images, so the list does not re-download them every time.
What the app and this site send
The app requests exchange rates from our own server at matawang-api.cleancode.id. That request contains no information about you: not your favourites, not a device identifier, not an account, because there isn't one.
This site's home page does the same thing, for the same reason: the rates in the preview are real, so your browser asks that same server for them as the page loads. It is the only request this site makes anywhere, it carries nothing about you, and if it fails the page simply keeps the rates it shipped with.
Like any web server, ours receives the technical details every internet request carries: your IP address, the time, and your device's user-agent string. These may appear in standard server logs. We do not use them to build a profile, link them to anything, or sell or share them.
Other companies
Right now, none. We would rather explain the one edge case than claim a clean sweep. The flags beside each currency ship inside the app, so your phone draws them without asking anyone for anything.
The exception: if we add a currency to the server between app updates, its flag is not in the app yet, and your phone loads that one image from FlagCDN (flagcdn.com) until the next update bundles it. FlagCDN would then receive your IP address, as it would for any image on any website, and nothing else.
Exchange rate data originates from OpenExchangeRates, but your phone never contacts them. Our server does that on a schedule, for everyone at once.

Children
Matawang is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, children included.
Your rights
Rights such as access, correction and deletion apply to personal data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to retrieve or erase. To remove everything the app has stored, uninstall it.
Changes
If Matawang ever adds something that changes this (advertising and in-app purchases are the likely candidates), this page will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top will change.
